Wyatt Hartman joins Nexilico as the Director of R&D

Berkeley, CA, January 17, 2022 – Nexilico welcomes Wyatt Hartman to the team as the Director of R&D. Dr. Hartman is an established microbiome computational biologist and is bringing years of experience in academic and industrial microbiome research to Nexilico to help advance our microbiome precision medicine technologies 

Dr. Hartman has more than 15 years of experience analyzing complex microbiome data from next-generation sequencing including bioinformatics, high performance computing (HPC), and computational biology using machine learning and deep learning techniques. His broad exposure to applications of genomic technologies through postdoctoral training at the DOE Joint Genome Institute was followed by industry experience with development of commercial microbiome platforms for sample profiling, stratification, outcome prediction, recommendations, and biomarker discovery. 

Additionally, Dr. Hartman's work in industry has encompassed strategic planning and project management, along with design and implementation of bioinformatics, data integration and data science platforms through product release cycles. He has further overseen development of scalable high throughput systems for microbiome sample handling, sequencing and laboratory assays, including supervision of junior and senior industry staff, along with management of laboratory safety and compliance programs.
